INFINITI INTELLIGENT ALL WHEEL DRIVE EXPLAINED

If you have any experience driving in harsh weather, you probably know at least a little bit about all wheel drive. Simply put, all wheel drive means that there is power going to each of a vehicle’s wheels, providing better traction on slippery roads. It’s a great thing to have if you have to regularly drive in rainy or snowy weather, but it does come with some downsides. All wheel drive vehicles are generally more expensive and heavier than similar vehicles, and they don’t accelerate as quickly as front wheel or rear wheel drive vehicles.

Fortunately, INFINITI has a solution for drivers who want to combine the ease of a rear wheel drive vehicle with the reliability of all wheel drive. It’s known as Intelligent All Wheel Drive, and it is quickly becoming a very popular feature in newer INFINITI vehicles.

How It Works

When your INFINITI vehicle is driving in optimal conditions, it will behave just like a typical rear wheel drive car. All the power goes to the two rear wheels, which gives you the kind of responsive feel that you would expect from rear wheel drive. If you find yourself in less-than-ideal driving conditions, the Intelligent All Wheel Drive system diverts up to 50 percent of the available power to your front wheels to give you the traction that you need. Once you no longer need all wheel drive, your vehicle goes back to driving like a rear wheel drive car.
