INFINITI TO GO ELECTRIC FROM 2021

All you need to do is take a look at most automakers’ new lineups to see that there is a growing trend for producing more hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and fully electric vehicles. This is obviously driven primarily by consumer demand, as sales of these electric vehicles also continue to grow year after year. Based on this evidence, it seemed obvious that INFINITI saw the beginnings of the slow transition from gasoline to electric vehicles.

In fact, the company recently announced that it would have an all-electric lineup beginning in 2021. Furthermore, INFINITI hopes to have electric vehicles account for at least 50 percent of its total sales by 2025.

IS INFINITI REALLY GOING ALL-ELECTRIC?

INFINITI’s announcement caught some by surprise, but the truth is that the company is not going all-electric in 2021. Rather, all new INFINITI models released from 2021 and onwards will feature some type of electric drivetrain. What this means is that the company will only be expanding its future lineup to include hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and fully electric vehicles. However, not all existing INFINITI models will immediately make this transition, which means it could still be some years before the company can boast an all-electric lineup.

Still, the fact that INFINITI will be focusing all of its future efforts in various forms of electric-vehicle technology promises great things for drivers primarily concerned with eco-friendliness and fuel efficiency. It should also bring major benefits to the auto industry as a whole by forcing other manufacturers to attempt to keep up with INFINITI’s improving technology.

INFINITI has already announced that it will release its first fully electric vehicle (EV) in 2021, and it has plans to expand this lineup in the coming years further. Also, the automaker will be focusing heavily on its new e-Power technology, which is a new type of gasoline-electric hybrid engine that INFINITI hopes will offer a similar driving experience to a fully electric vehicle.

All of these developments promise great things for the future, but there is no reason you need to wait several years to take advantage of INFINITI’s electric-vehicle technology.
