Types of Electric Vehicles
What Type of Electric Vehicles Are There?
The popularity of Electric Vehicles (EVs) is on the rise, and shoppers have a range of options to choose from. Below are some of the most common types:
Contact UsBattery Electric Vehicles (BEVs)
Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) run entirely on electric power, without the need for a gasoline engine. They rely on a rechargeable battery pack and are emission-free, with no tailpipe emissions or air pollution hazards.
Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs)
Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) use both a gas-powered engine and an electric motor. During regenerative braking, the energy that would normally be wasted in conventional gas-powered vehicles is redirected to assist the gasoline engine during acceleration.
Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs)
Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) are similar to HEVs but have a larger battery and can be charged by plugging into a power source. PHEVs can travel for several dozen miles on electric power alone, and then switch to operating like a conventional hybrid with a gas engine.
