HOW TO START YOUR CAR WITH A DEAD KEY FOB

One of the standout features in most INFINITI vehicles is the Intelligent Key system, which allows you to unlock and start your car without taking the key out of your pocket or bag. While this adds convenience, it can become a challenge when the key fob battery dies—a common issue with any battery-powered device.

If your Intelligent Key battery is drained and you don’t have a replacement on hand, you can still unlock and start your vehicle by following these steps.

Unlocking Your INFINITI with a Dead Key Fob

INFINITI includes a hidden mechanical key inside the Intelligent Key for situations like this. There are two main styles of key fobs:

Style 2:
Use the slide lever near the key ring end to release and pull out the mechanical key. Then use it to open the door as usual.

Style 1:
Slide the lock knob on the back of the fob, remove the mechanical key, and manually unlock the driver’s door.

Starting Your INFINITI with a Dead Key Fob

Depending on your vehicle, there are two methods for starting the engine:

• With a key fob port:
  Insert the key fob into the port near the steering column (orientation may vary). With your foot on the brake, press the Start/Stop button.
• Without a key fob port:
  Press the fob directly against the Start/Stop button until you hear a chime. Within 10 seconds, press the button again while holding the brake to start the engine.
