By the time the “Horizon Task Force” formed in 1985, Nissan had already established itself as a world-class automaker with a solid reputation in America. Their visionary goal was to create a high-performance luxury division of Nissan, and with a collaborative leadership team, the INFINITI brand was born. INFINITI has since become a pure luxury brand division of Nissan, boasting over 30 years of legendary models.

INFINITI Starts Strong and Stays Strong

The first INFINITI models, the M30 coupe and Q45 sedan, debuted in America in 1989, showcasing the brand’s luxurious appeal. In the 1990s, INFINITI shifted its focus to raw power, introducing the highly acclaimed VQ series of V6 engines, recognized as one of the world’s best engines for over a decade.

INFINITI’s growth and distinction as a brand were driven by its commitment to “complete” customer service and a relentless focus on meeting driver needs. Every INFINITI vehicle is designed with the driver in mind, creating an intuitive and cohesive interior experience. By 2002, INFINITI vehicles featured voice recognition technology, positioning the brand at the forefront of intelligent, driver-centric design.

INFINITI was also a pioneer in incorporating standard driver-assist features, introducing Lane Departure Warning in 2004 and Blind Spot Intervention in 2010. These safety innovations, now common in many vehicles, were groundbreaking at the time and underscore INFINITI’s commitment to making automobiles safer.

Models like the QX80, Q50, and QX50 have sustained INFINITI’s popularity over the past two decades, offering luxurious alternatives outside the mainstream. INFINITI’s history is marked by a vision of better automobile manufacturing and enhanced driving experiences, a legacy that continues to grow today.
