To celebrate International Women’s Day and recognize significant figures in various communities, Waze and INFINITI have partnered with a new campaign. The campaign titled “Pave it Forward” focuses on highlighting different women who have helped shape some of the largest cities throughout the U.S. and Canada.
The campaign is powered by Waze, the world’s largest crowdsourcing navigation app, to provide drivers with an interactive map experience that allows users to view pins and view historical landmarks in their communities. This mission developed after INFINITI discovered that only one-quarter of the streets in the U.S. and Canada are named after women. Although the street names may stay the same, the interactive experience provided by Waze can help drivers get a better understanding of how women have made an impact on different cities. Thousands of markers will be present, which invite drivers to visit the landmarks and small businesses that are currently owned by women.
“Pave it Foward” has a mission of highlighting both female history and female-owned businesses that are integral to both countries’ economies. This allows drivers to learn more about the background of women who want to make a positive change. The app will geo-tag historic women while spotlighting different women who have owned businesses that shaped society. The app will also verbally describe each landmark and woman-owned business to help the driver stay informed on various facts related to females while spending time in the vehicle.
